Icône "Architecte"
UNKNOWN, 1899

The story of Maison Mouchart & Fils started already in 1897 with the selling of drinks from a horse-drawn cart pulled through the streets of Ixelles.  That led to the installation of 22,000-litre customized barrels in the cellars of rue Eugène Cattoir, which was followed by the establishment of a wine cellar-restaurant.  Thus it is the story not only of the evolution of bottling and marketing wine over the past century, but also of the epic journey and continuous adaptations of four generations of the Mouchart family.  Having settled close to city’s military barracks, the family invested in various buildings and developed innovative technical infrastructure.  With a neo-Flemish Renaissance dining room, a Belle Époque counter and labyrinthine cellars, this is a visit for lovers of socio-economic history, especially if they’re fans of fine wine.
