Icône "Architecte"
UNKNOWN, 1899

This Eclectic bourgeois house, inspired by the Flemish Neo-Renaissance, was built in 1899 for a merchant named De Jong. The architect is unknown, but the fact that there is a house further along the street by architect Ernest Delune, who is mainly known for his Art Nouveau and Eclectic houses in Ixelles, has led to suggestions that he may also have designed this building.  Here we have a house on two levels over high cellars, with a balustraded balcony and a pyramid-shaped roof. The façade is made of brick and blue stone, and features ceramic panels with Art Nouveau floral patterns, a style also seen in the stained glass windows. The impressive salons feature an Eclectic mix of paneling, columns, fireplaces and elaborate ceilings. Currently the home of Artimo Fine Art, they are filled with beautiful statues, statuettes and art objects.
