Constantin Meunier was a very important artist. He lived in the second half of the 19th century. He produced drawings, paintings and sculptures. In his art, he especially liked to show workers and industries in Belgium. At the end of his life, he had a beautiful house and studio built in Ixelles. This house has now become a museum: the Musée Meunier.

During this visit, we will:

  • découvrir qui était Constantin Meunier ;
  • voir le type d’art qu’il faisait ;
  • regarder sa maison et comprendre pourquoi elle est typique pour la période autour de 1900 ;
  • observer de près ses œuvres et ses sculptures pour en apprendre plus sur les anciens métiers ;
  • comparer le travail des ouvriers d’avant avec le monde du travail aujourd’hui.

The visit is designed for alpha or FLE groups and aims to meet the expectations of the people being trained as closely as possible. The visit will be based on instructions that will encourage each member of the group to research and reflect. It offers a cultural reflection and makes links with the daily life of the group members.
