Tournay-Solvay Ch\u00e2teau"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nestled in the park of the same name, the Tournay-Solvay Ch\u00e2teau was built in 1880 by architects Constant Bosmans and Henri Vandeveld who designed several buildings for the Solvay dynasty throughout their careers. Commissioned by Alfred, the company director who would always remain somewhat in the shadow of his older brother Ernest, it was originally an imposing Neo-Renaissance country house and later acquired the status of Ch\u00e2teau through the addition of a double tower by the architect Jules Brunfaut in 1905. Devastated by a fire in 1982 and subsequently on the point of collapsing, the Ch\u00e2teau has undergone long and meticulous restoration work led by the ma2 architecture firm in full respect of the surrounding nature, a protected site designated Natura 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arch. C. BOSMANS &amp; H. VANDEVELD, 1881<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors on bicycles are asked to leave their bikes at the entrance to the park. Cycling is not permitted in the park, and there are no bicycle racks near the castle.
